Andy Cohen Says ‘RHONY’ Will Return With Two New Casts

Now that RHONY is sucking, here’s some more RHONY. Following a genuinely disastrous 13th season of Real Housewives of New York City, Bravo has devised this perplexing tactic. It was so horrible that there wasn’t even a reunion.

Andy Cohen said in an interview with Variety that the mothership series will be recast and remade with an all-new “group of actual pals, and who are of varied origins, colors, and faiths.”

Given the show’s two greatest flaws: an all-white ensemble that feels more like a bunch of coworkers politely tolerating one other than an organic buddy group, and the continuous presence of Certified Monster Ramona Singer, it doesn’t seem like a horrible idea.

But, in addition to this much-needed reshuffle, Cohen said that a second RHONY series will be made up of former cast members. “Who’s coming back?” could be your initial thought. (Cohen wouldn’t disclose who would be the first to call, but joked that it would be Jill Zarin.) “Why?” is my initial query.

Former Housewives have already been given a way back into the fold. It’s called Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip, and it’s fantastic. We know that Dorinda Medley will host the upcoming season of RHUGT at Blue Stone Manor and that Jill Zarin will be joining her.

That’s where I’d want to see my ex-Housewives: in a fourth-wall-breaking riot. This new show, according to Cohen, does not yet have a title but is being referred to as “RHONY”.

Bravo’s first objective is to repair the mothership, a task that Cohen eagerly anticipates. He added, “There are hundreds of stories to tell here.”

“This is America’s most multicultural, varied, dynamic, and exciting city: We’re looking for a multicultural group of pals that represent America’s most interesting city.” We want a community of ladies who are true friends who come from a variety of backgrounds, ethnicities, and faiths.”

But, because “RHONY” has been a Bravo regular since its inception in 2008 and has swiftly become part of the zeitgeist, Cohen concurrently announced a second “Real Housewives of New York City” that will include the same cast.

“The Real Housewives of New York City” was troubled in Season 13 in every way. Because of COVID restrictions in the city in the fall of 2020 and winter of 2021, the cast of five women — which included a Black cast member, Eboni K.

Williams, for the first time in “RHONY” history — traveled from empty restaurants to empty homes, having tense conversations about race and politics.

The season’s lack of joy was mirrored in the low ratings, and a reunion that was already difficult to organize was canceled when the network questioned if people would even want to see one.
