With changing times and people getting habituated to a new normal and continuous increase and decrease in no COVID-19 cases things have been like a rollercoaster ride for all of us. But, thanks to the medical and health care workers things are getting back on track with the mass number of vaccination doses to people worldwide. COVID-19 vaccine was like a new ray of hope for people and that ray of hope is now lighting up the World.
With that being said data and statistics have been continuously proving to us the importance and advantages of the vaccination and also the booster shots which are being a shield of protection from COVID-19 and its diseases.
This has become more obvious from the fact that during the omicron wave it was observed that people who were vaccinated had twenty-one times fewer chances of death from COVID-19 and seven times less chance of getting severely ill and getting hospitalized due to the same.
So eligible adults adolescents and children should take their COVID-19 vaccination shot, which is their first initial doze when they are eligible for the same.
After FDA’S (U.S Food and Drug Administration)action, the CDC(Centre of Disease Control and Prevention)has recommended giving another booster dose to an elderly person and people above the age of fifty, after their initial booster dose which was given to the four month’s ago.
They have recommended giving another mRNA booster to decrease the chances of Disease from COVID-19.
The speed rate with which both FDA and CDC have given the green signal to the additional dose proposal only shows the authority’s concern towards the rising cases in the country. It is being said that the new omicron variant which is being termed BA-2 is extremely contagious.
According to recent reports the new variant BA-2 is being considered responsible for fifty-five percent of new cases in the country which is a matter of high concern because it is highly contagious.
The new and updated recommendation from CDC acknowledges the increased risks of severe illness to a big population of people who are senior citizens, elderly people, and above the age of 50.
With these new and current steps taken by the authorities, FDA, CDC it can be hoped to have a better hold and control over the increasing COVID-19 cases shortly.
Below is the statement by Xavier Baccara, secretary of the Department of Health and Human service, and also the links to the full statement and YouTube video respectively
“As FDA and CDC have also made clear, getting your third dose – the original booster shot – is incredibly important for everyone is eligible.
If you are vaccinated and boosted, your odds of getting severely ill, going to the hospital, or dying are dramatically lower. But too many people haven’t yet stepped up to get their booster shot. People can go to vaccines.gov to find free and easily available vaccines in their community. If we all do our part, we can continue to be safe, stay protected, and move forward together.”
