Rogue Legacy 2 is finally receiving a complete release on PC and Xbox systems after nearly two years of early access. On April 28, Rogue Legacy 2 will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
Cellar Door Games, the Toronto-based firm founded by two brothers, Kenny and Teddy Lee, has had a lengthy journey. Cellar Door Games stated that Rogue Legacy 2’s early access period will begin in August 2020, following the success of the first Rogue Legacy in 2013, which sold between one and two million copies on Steam alone, according to SteamSpy. And, as many creators discovered, building a new game in the midst of a worldwide epidemic had its own set of obstacles.
But, 20 months later, Rogue Legacy 2 is just weeks away, featuring a slew of upgrades over its predecessor. For starters, the considerably enlarged Manor will provide even more customizability for each of your runs, and fresh graphics will make each Rogue Legacy character pop off the screen.
Rogue Legacy 2 adds 15 all-new classes to the game, along with new weaponry and a substantially updated trait system. The Ranger, who uses a bow and arrow for ranged combat, the Dragon Lancer, who wields a long spear, and the Bard, who sings and dances its way through dungeons, leaving either dead or deafened creatures in their wake, are all examples.
The Relics and Resolve system is another new element, which provides special modifications and new powers for each Relic you earn while also weakening a player’s Resolve. Cellar Door hopes that by combining the more dramatic characteristic system with the loss of relics, players will appreciate each of their heroes’ lives a bit more than they did in the first game.
Rogue Legacy 2 improves on its predecessor in terms of accessibility, with additional options to toggle contact damage, increase your character’s health bar, and even give your character the ability to fly to avoid challenging platforming areas.
Rogue Legacy 2 will need numerous playthroughs to tell the whole narrative of a once-thriving country that experienced a catastrophic downfall, thanks to the considerably extended mythology.
