The release of Battlefield 2042 has been delayed until November 19, nearly a month after its originally planned date. The game’s developer DICE announced this week that the new launch window offers more time to correct any bugs or glitches found in testing before players take control on live servers with an updated version come October 22nd
The output was not only shocking but also disappointing because we were all looking forward to playing through one last campaign mission together as our favorite soldiers from Call Of Duty Black Ops 4.
On Twitter, DICE general manager Oskar Gabrielson explained that the delay in in-game updates was largely due to a pandemic which made it difficult for them to work from home.
“You know what? I’m not going to apologize for wanting safe working conditions, even if it means we have a few minutes more of development time before launch,” said Gabrielson in an interview also attributed to the Battlefield 2042 team. “The global pandemic has created unforeseen challenges that our development teams never expected when they were building this game from scratch – but don’t worry because all those hardworking individuals are still back at home developing just as eagerly without any safety restrictions!”
We’ll have more information on the game’s open beta later this month!

The new Battlefield game will allow players to create their own unique changes, or “mapooked” as they’re referred to in-game. These custom maps can then be shared with friends and other gamers around the world through portals for all sorts of fun!
The game is now in a more complicated position. The new release date puts it right between Call of Duty: Vanguard, which will be released on Nov 5th; and Halo Infinite scheduled for Dec 8th
The original release date would have placed 2042 as this generation’s first big multiplayer shooter but with its updated launch timeline now slightly different than before where we’re seeing two major blockbusters coming out just days apart from one another
