On Thursday, actor Akshay Kumar issued an apology on social media for supporting a pan masala company. “Fans” and “well-wishers” were addressed by Kumar when he announced his departure from the Vimal Elaichi brand ambassador role.
Despite his relationship with Vimal Elaichi, Kumar issued the following remark on Twitter: “While I haven’t and won’t advocate tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your thoughts.” I take a step back, humility is damned. As a result, I’ve chosen to donate the full endorsement money to a worthwhile charity.
The actor emphasised that the pan masala company may continue running the advertising in accordance with the legal period of the deal. Kumar, however, stressed that he will be more attentive in making “future choices”.
“In exchange I shall eternally continue to beg for your love and wishes,” he added.
“I’m very sorry. Thank you for all of your support, and I’d want to extend my sincere apologies to you. I’ve been profoundly moved by your actions over the last several days.” As a result of my connection to Vimal Elaichi, I acknowledge and appreciate the sentiments expressed.
“With great humility, I step aside,” he continued. To show my support for a good cause, I’ve chosen to donate the full endorsement money to it. Even if the company airs the commercials for the rest of the term of the contract that binds me, I undertake to exercise utmost caution in any future decisions I make. For your continued support, I will always ask for your love and best wishes in return. In the words of Akshay Kumar: ”
On 15 April, Vimal Elaichi revealed that Kumar has joined Shah Rukh Khan and Ajay Devgn as brand ambassadors.
Video of Khan and Devgn welcome Kumar to the Vimal world was released on the pan masala brand’s official YouTube page. On camera, the trio can be seen chewing on a piece of ‘elaichi,’ while the slogan Bolo zubaan kesari plays.
Fans of the actor, who is most known for his classic appearances in action and comedy films, were outraged by this. When not working out, Kumar has acted as a spokesperson for the American Lung Association in anti-smoking commercials.
In 2018, Kumar declined to market cigarette products because of his concern for the public’s health, according to some.
Devgn weighed in on Kumar’s plight as well.
In the world of consumer goods, certain things are dangerous, while others aren’t. Elaichi was what I was doing at the time, and I don’t want to promote it. Devgn was cited as stating, “If certain items are so terrible, then they should not be marketed,” according to what I believe.
