FX has confirmed that Archer Season 13 will premiere next month! The beloved Emmy Award-winning animated spy-comedy series will premiere on FXX on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 10 p.m. ET/PT, with the new episode available on Hulu the following day.
The series’ 13th season was initially confirmed in September 2021, with the season 12 finale airing shortly after on October 6. The new series will include eight episodes, each lasting 30 minutes.
Archer and The Agency will be acquired by Fabian Kingsworth’s spy conglomerate, International Intelligence Agency, or IIA, in the next season. As they go out to do odd jobs for Kingsworth, the gang will struggle to maintain their identity and independence.
Archer remains a cornerstone of FXX’s adult animated comedy, as the channel expanded its programming lineup in September 2021, adding King of the Hill, Bob’s Burgers, and The Simpsons, as well as all seasons of Family Guy. FXX has become one of the go-to destinations for animated adult comedies since these additions, and it is now tied with Adult Swim in the overall cable channel ranking. Along with these classics and renewals, they are also releasing new animated comedies, with the new animated comedy Little Demon due to premiere on FXX the day following the new season of Archer on Thursday, August 25 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
Adam Reed invented Archer and also serves as an executive producer at Floyd County Productions with Matt Thompson and Casey Willis. Season 13 has an all-star voice cast headlined by H. Jon Benjamin as Sterling Archer, the titular famous spy, as well as Aisha Tyler, Judy Greer, Chris Parnell, Amber Nash, Reed, and Lucky Yates. Guest performers Kenan Thompson, Alison Pill, Christian Slater, Kayvan Novak, and Stephen Tobolowsky, among others, provided voices for Season 13. The series’ production is overseen by FX Productions.
Archer’s Season 13 premieres on FXX on August 24 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, with new episodes airing weekly and streaming the following week.
Sadly, Malory Archer, who has been voiced by the wonderful Jessica Walter since Season 1, won’t be making a comeback in Season 13. She unexpectedly passed away in March 2021, shocking fans, but happily FX was able to use her voice in Season 12. In the Season 12 finale of FX, Walter’s character Malory received a poignant and fitting ending; she is last pictured retired and unwinding on a beach with her spouse Ron (voiced by Walter’s real-life husband Ron Leibman).
Season 13 of “Archer” will be difficult to predict because the series as a whole has been, well, surprising. Archer transitioned from being the world’s top secret agent to a cocaine smuggler and then to a private investigator. Then, at one point, we watch three seasons’ worth of Archer’s comatic dreams, in which viewers are transported from a 1920s Los Angeles crime scene to a galactic spacecraft. Although nothing in the universe of “Archer” is certain, we do know what to expect in the following season.
Our best bet is that Archer would attempt to somehow recreate ISIS under his direction because it is difficult to envision Archer and his coworkers gladly working under IIA. Fans will have to wait until Season 13 of “Archer” debuts in 2022 to find out what escapades the gang will get up to as a result, of course.
