What You Might Not Expect About the Love Story in Bridgerton Season 3, Know the Shocking Truth

After that turbulent Bridgerton season 2 finale, don’t worry—Lady Whistledown will write once more. Just as the eagerly awaited season 2 began filming in the UK, Netflix announced way back on April 13, 2021, that it had already renewed the brilliant period romance for both a third and fourth season.

Bridgerton is based on a Julia Quinn book series of eight books (plus numerous “epilogues”) that Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland productions adapted for Netflix. They follow the Bridgerton family as they look for marriage partners in Regency England’s high society, which includes widowed matriarch Violet (Ruth Gemmell) and her eight offspring.

As it followed the eldest daughter Daphne’s (Phoebe Dynevor) hunt for marriage and her unexpected connection with the dashing Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), the first season, which debuted on December 25, 2020, shattered Netflix viewership records.

After that, Season 2 tackled the second novel in the series, focusing on eldest brother Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and the reckless Kate Sharma’s enemies-to-lovers affair (Simone Ashley). However, it appears that Netflix has every intention of continuing this series far beyond these episodes.

Seasons 3 and 4 of Bridgerton were originally announced, and Netflix VP of Global TV Bela Bajaria said in a statement that it “blown us off our feet.” The creative team, under Shonda’s direction, “understood the material and gave our people a wonderful, emotional, romantic story.

We believe people will continue to swoon for this program since they have some interesting ideas for the future. We intend to continue operating in the Bridgerton sector for a very long time.

Here’s what we know about what might happen after a finale that brought Anthony and Kate’s marriage to paradise but left Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and her closest friend Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) reeling from betrayal.

The next episode will be released at some point, although the date has not yet been announced. Season 2 debuted a little more than a year after season 1, but given that the pandemic hindered production, it’s feasible that the creative team will move quickly to prepare for season 3.

According to Variety, Coughlan revealed during the FYSEE panel on May 15 that Penelope, a.k.a. Lady Whistledown, and Colin Bridgerton’s (Luke Newton) romance will be the main focus of Bridgerton season 3.

This is a divergence from Quinn’s writings; in the written series, Benedict (Luke Thompson), who becomes the lead role in An Offer From a Gentleman, would be the following Bridgerton to receive the lead treatment.

The plot largely borrows from the legend of Cinderella: Benedict falls for Sophie Beckett, an earl’s daughter who was made into a servant by her vile stepmother. The fourth book on the list is Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, which focuses on Colin.
