ATLANTA, Georgia – Three individuals were confirmed dead and numerous more injured in shootings that took place in the city of Atlanta on Thursday afternoon over the course of less than two hours, according to Atlanta police officials who spoke with CBS46 News.

According to police department officials, two persons have died after many shootings in Midtown Atlanta, and a suspect was apprehended at the airport.
Police tweeted that they had “identified the female suspect at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and taken into custody without incident.”
As of July 30, 2022, 88 killings had taken place in Atlanta, according to APD. Last year, there were 81 at this time.
According to Schierbaum, rates have decreased since April but have slowed this summer.

“We’ve had great success taking on the local gangs that influence and fuel violent crime. The drug trafficking operations that fuel criminality are being shut down. But we’re appealing to the public because of angry moments, Schierbaum said in a Thursday interview.
According to authorities, a second injured victim is being treated in a hospital.
According to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office, the victims were Michael Shinners, 60, of the Alpharetta suburb and Wesley Freeman, 41, both from Atlanta. According to the agency, Freeman was shot six times and died at a local hospital, while Shinners was struck three times.
Darin Schierbaum, the interim police chief, said it didn’t seem like random actions were being committed.
On 17th Street in Atlanta Station, there was reportedly the first shooting. A white automobile was encircled by police and other emergency personnel as Chopper46 soared above the scene.
Police officials verified to CBS46 News that a guy was accidently shot by a gun that was being played with inside an apartment.
Police have not released the man’s name. He was taken to a local hospital in a hurry.
On Thursday afternoon, there was a second gunfire that was reported near the 2500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at Columbia Commons. Officers arrived and discovered a dead male at the location. Investigations into this shooting are still ongoing.
On Central Park, a man was discovered lying dead with a gun in his lap. According to the police, they are looking into whether or not the gunshot was a suicide.
According to Catherine Chase, president of the 4th Ward West Neighborhood Association, “I know that they’ve boosted patrols both in Central Park and in Renaissance Park, and I think it’s made a difference, people feel better.”
The woman was arrested at around 4 p.m. ET after police and federal officers searched the building for her.
The interim chief reported that authorities found a pistol at the airport. The man was detained before passing through airport security, according to Mayor Andre Dickens.
The airport’s security was never compromised, Dickens emphasized in his statement.
Around 1:45 p.m. ET, police were called to a high-rise condominium on West Peachtree Street for a report of gunfire hitting someone.
Chase remarked, “But I think the general climate is a bit of a concern for most people today.”
According to investigators, they think it is related to a different gunshot that took place close at 355 North Ave.
According to neighbors near Central Fulton Senior Services, the victim of the shooting was a cherished employee.
