She-Hulk: For Finale, Jessica Gao Talks About Getting Almost Fired, Check Out The Details Here!

The She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series finale had a lot of humor that was personality and broke the fourth wall, among other things. Jessica Gao, the series’ lead writer, had to struggle to have some of the episode’s more ridiculous elements included.

About The Dispute During The Finale

It was a very self-referential finale that was chosen for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Jen Walters literally enters the Marvel: Assembled series and the Disney+ welcome screen in true breaking-the-fourth-wall style. There, she confronts Marvel Studios CEO Kevin Feige only to find out he is actually an artificial intelligence (A.I. ), as is the case throughout the entire Marvel: Assembled series. referred to as the Knowledge Enhanced Visual Interconnectivity Nexus (K.E.V.I.N. for short). Later, the two debate about whether the season finale of her program would be preferable.

It can be noticed in the scene that K.E.V.I.N. has a little brim over its lenses, a homage to the baseball cap that Kevin Feige almost usually wears. Gao said a meeting she attended with Feige and others, in which she threatened to leave the show if a hat wasn’t included. Gao made the remark in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Gao recalled that the screenplay expressly stated that the robot is wearing a small black baseball cap on top in the initial draft. “I described the robot as an Akira meets a HAL 9000-like AI brain/robot,” said Gao.

And Kevin in the actual world said, “Well, it doesn’t make any sense. What makes a robot want to wear a hat? And I said, “Kevin, is that the logical flaw you see in this?” The robot shouldn’t be wearing a hat, not that [She-Hulk] broke the ultimate fourth wall by coming to Marvel Studios and fighting her way to see you. Rather than the fact that you are a real robot that She-Hulk meets.

Gao proceeded by describing how the two continued to debate in jest, with the writer finally threatening to leave if she wasn’t permitted to put a hat on. Feige played along and accepted the writer’s resignation.

‘Yeah, that doesn’t make a lick of sense,’ he responded. Therefore, it ought not to have a hat,” Gao remarked. So, enraged, I told Kevin, “Kevin, if you don’t let me put a hat on that robot, then I resign,” in front of around 20 people during this large conference. (Laughs.) After a little moment of silence, he simply said, “Thank you very much, Jessica.” We sincerely appreciate all of the fantastic jobs you’ve done for us. (Laughs.)”

Conclusion Of The Dispute

Thankfully, everything worked out, and Gao gives thanks to Jackson Sze, the Visual Development Supervisor at Marvel Studios, for weighing in and stating that they could probably build some type of design aspect for the robot that resembles a hat.

“And then dear Jackson Sze, who was in charge of the vis-dev team and was always the middleman, gently proposed that they include something in the robot’s design.
