The first Overwatch 2 double XP weekend has begun, and there will be additional double XP weekends in the coming weekends, according to Blizzard.

Battle on Overwatch 2’s New York map

The very first Overwatch 2 double XP weekend has begun, and it should greatly aid fans of the hero-shooter in finishing the Season 1 Battle Pass. Server interruptions and other technical problems hampered Overwatch 2 when it originally went live in early access this month, preventing gamers from playing the new title. Blizzard has disclosed plans to hold double XP weekends as an expression of regret to the fans.

The first double XP weekend for Overwatch 2 is currently live and will last till October 24 at 11 a.m. Pacific Time. The following Overwatch 2 double XP weekends are from November 24 to 28 and from October 28 to 31. The double XP weekends will always begin at 11 a.m. Pacific Time on a Friday and conclude at 11 a.m. Pacific Time on a Monday. Players of Overwatch 2 should have plenty of time to benefit from the double XP and make significant progress in their Battle Passes as a result.

The delayed Battle Pass development in Overwatch 2 has been a recurring gripe from both fans and critics.  Normally, it wouldn’t be a major matter, but the Battle Pass’s restriction on the new Support hero Kiriko has made it a particularly contentious issue in Overwatch 2. For those using the free Battle Pass track, it takes quite a bit of gameplay to unlock Kiriko, while those who are prepared to pay for the premium Battle Pass can do so right away.

Double XP in Overwatch Weekends October 21 to October 24

24 November until 28 November

These three weekends with double experience points are probably just the start of Overwatch 2’s special events. While these specific double XP weekends are intended to make up for Overwatch 2’s server issues at launch, businesses frequently use them to re-engage lapsed players and improve the experience for ardent fans. It’s very probable that regardless of whether there are any other server issues, upcoming Overwatch 2 seasons will include unique double XP weekends of their own.

Since the game’s initial release on October 4, it’s been beset by problems, from DDoS attacks that prevented players from logging in to Blizzard’s needing to temporarily disable certain heroes to fix bugs. Players have also voiced dissatisfaction with the game’s mobile verification method and monetization approach.

While attempting to stabilize the game, the creator has had to issue several regrettable statements. To make amends, Blizzard is also giving away a free legendary skin and weapon charm to users.

Between October 25 till the end of season one, anybody who logs into the game will receive a brand-new Cursed Captain Reaper legendary skin and a health pack weapon charm.

For fans of the hero shooter, the double XP weekend for Overwatch 2 from October 28 to October 31 will be very active. The 2022 Halloween Terror events will also be in full swing that weekend, giving fans something more to look forward to in addition to double XP. There are currently no details available about the Overwatch 2 Halloween Terror event, but it is anticipated to provide new skins that players can purchase from the shop as well as an updated PvE environment for Junkenstein’s Revenge.

Early access to Overwatch 2 is currently available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
