Playthrough videos of Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster’s special attacks have now been made available. Role-playing game franchise Suikoden made its debut in 1995 on the original PlayStation. The game, which is partly based on a well-known traditional Chinese story, is best renowned for its 108 protagonists, who were drawn from the inspiration of the original text.
After asking fans what rune was their favorite in a vote, a small clip of Soul Eater was then presented. The bee-buzzing sounds are a little overdone, despite how good it looks. The Blue Gate Rune, Family Attack, plus Double Monster Attack attacks were featured in the three new in-game movies that were displayed. Interestingly, given the inclusion of the Unite Attacks, the clips now uncannily resemble Suikoden spiritual successor Eiyuden Chronicle.
Watching all of this video only heightens the nostalgia because Suikoden 2 is regarded as one of the greatest in the series. Even though some people could argue that the excessive effects don’t fit well with the sprite-based visuals, they also don’t look out of style, especially since games like Octopath Traveler have taken a similar path in the past with great success.
However, some effects including those in Family Attack include continuous flashes, which the typical player could find a little annoying. It could be a good idea to offer some accessibility options so that the effects’ intensity can be changed.
More gameplay snippets are wonderful because gamers have been waiting impatiently for more information to surface. While the Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster release date may take longer than anticipated, the release of gameplay and new presentation footage will keep players interested in the game. Especially for players of the earlier editions of the game, the game is looking like it’s going as something to watch out for in 2023.
Two of the game’s most crucial runes—Bright Shield and Black Sword—are demonstrated by Riou and Jowy in the video above. The Black Sword Piercing One strike deals an astonishing 700 damage, while the Bright Shield Shining Light Assault deals 130 AOE loss to every opponent.
