The iPhone 7 and its bigger variant have been around for more than a year now. While there wasn’t any major changes in design and overall appearance, the smartphone is still a favorite to many. The Galaxy S8, on the other hand, has improved its design by a lot, introducing the Infinity Display, a wrap around edged panel that melts on the frames seamlessly. However, in terms of sales, the Galaxy S8 still falls behind the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus in the United States.
Galaxy S8 Falls Behind iPhone 7 In Terms Of Sales In The U.S.
According to a report from Kantar, Apple is on the verge of the smartphone game in the U.S. According to the stats shared, the Galaxy S7 and its bigger edged variant managed to score a higher market share than its successor. However, do take note that the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have been around for more than a year. So it might still be early to judge the Galaxy S8.
“Early indications in our data for the three-month period ending in May 2017 show that the S8 and S8 Plus will reach a combined share of 8.1% in the US, slightly behind their predecessors the S7/S7 edge at 8.8%. iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus remain the top sellers during the May period with combined share of 20.1%. iOS accounted for 36.5% of smartphone sales in the US for the three months ending April 2017, a 5.8 percentage point increase over the same period one year earlier.”
While Apple is at the top of its game in the U.S, it will probably take a while before the numbers of the Galaxy S8 picks up pace. The stats are, however, only for the U.S, so do take that in mind. In addition to this, Samsung will also announce the Galaxy Note 8 in the upcoming months. Henceforth, its release will have a noticeable impact on the sales of the iPhone 7 since it’s very popular.
