On a flight from Patna to Bangalore, an IT software engineer was returning home after completing work in New Delhi. He had left his luggage on the aircraft when he went back for it later; but it was mistakenly taken by another passenger, who then prompted Kumar to turn his talents for good.
When Nandan Kumar, a software engineer from Patna, India, tried to contact Indigo’s customer service and received no help, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
Soo I traveled from PAT – BLR from indigo 6E-185 yesterday. And my bag got exchanged with another passenger.
Honest mistake from both our end. As the bags exactly same with some minor differences. 2/n

“I realised it only after I reached home when my wife pointed out that the bag seems to be a different from ours as we don’t use key based locks in our bags,” he wrote in his Twitter thread.
He attempted to connect with Indigo’s customer service, who attempted to connect him with the other passenger but was unsuccessful. He ultimately decided to find a “flaw” in Indigo’s website in order to locate the user himself.
The process not only helped him find his lost luggage but also led to him discovering an apparent loophole in IndiGo’s system, that allowed for a data leak.
The airline responded with an apology, stating that they were sorry for the inconvenience and that there had been no security breaches on their website.
