Synopsis of the Series

“Barry Allen was barely 11 years old when his mother was slain in a mysterious and horrifying occurrence, and his father was wrongfully convicted of the murder,” according to the plot summary for The Flash. Barry was taken in and nurtured by Detective Joe West, the father of Barry’s best friend, Iris, after the tragedy ruined his life forever. Now, Barry is a clever, motivated, and endearingly nerdy CSI investigator whose desire to learn the truth about his mother’s mysterious death drives him to investigate every unexplained urban legend and technological discovery that comes his way. Barry’s latest preoccupation is a cutting-edge particle accelerator developed by visionary physicist Harrison Wells and his S.T.A.R. Labs team, which claims that it would lead to unfathomable advances in power and medicine. However, something goes dreadfully wrong during the public unveiling, and many lives are lost as a result of the massive explosion, which triggers a freak storm, and Barry is struck by lightning. After nine months in a coma, Barry awakens to find that his life has changed yet again: the accident has given him the ability to move about Central City at superhuman speeds, allowing him to act as an unseen guardian angel. Barry is surprised to learn that he is not the only “meta-human” that was formed in the aftermath of the accelerator explosion – and that not everyone is using their new abilities for good. The city has seen a high surge of missing people, inexplicable deaths, and other unusual phenomena in the months since the disaster. Barry’s new mission is to use his talent of speed to protect the innocent while never giving up on solving his mother’s murder and clearing his father’s guilt. Only a few close friends and colleagues are aware that Barry is the quickest man alive right now, but it won’t be long before the rest of the world discovers what Barry Allen has become… “The Flash,” he says.

Wallace Recommends Some Screening Homework to Get Ready for What’s Next: “I would advise folks to rewatch the beginning of Season 6 before watching Episodes 12, 13, and onward. I wouldn’t watch it for ‘Bloodwork,’ but for the rest of the reasons. The hints have been there all along.”
