Season 2 of Foundation is one of the most eagerly awaited Apple TV Plus originals right now. Apple renewed the epic sci-fi series in October 2021, and fans are eagerly awaiting the next instalment to arrive on its streaming platform. However, it may be some time before that happens.
Things have been quiet on the Foundation front since a first-look photograph and new cast announcements came online in February. Even so, we know that primary photography is now taking place in the Canary Islands, as one important cast member recently confirmed. As a result, the Apple TV Plus show is in full flow.
We think Foundation’s first season became better as it went on, especially as it got over its teething troubles in the early episodes. We’re interested to see how the second season picks up these plot strands and runs with them, given the first season ended on a cliffhanger.

There is no set date for the second season of Foundation. However, we do know that filming is begun, thanks to an Apple TV Plus press release. Showrunner David S. Goyer confirmed to Collider(opens in new tab) in late 2021 that season 2 was likely to begin production in 2022, but declined to say how much of season 2 had been written so far.
Fortunately, one of the primary cast members of Foundation was more honest about where season 2 is in the works. “We’ve already started production on season 2,” Leah Harvey, who plays Salvor Hardin, told TVLine, “so some areas of development have started to swing into gear.”
That is, without a doubt, the situation. On February 1, 2022, Apple released a first look image for Foundation season 2 as previously mentioned. Although the photo doesn’t reveal much, we do know that Lee Pace’s Brother Day will have a verbal spat with Jared Harris’ Hari Seldon. After Seldon’s death in the show’s second episode, the AI construct of Seldon’s consciousness was created.
Harvey has also provided a brief update on the location of Foundation season 2 filming since then. On March 16, the Foundation star revealed on Instagram that primary photography was taking place on Furteventura in the Canary Islands.
As a result, the show’s next instalment will have more sand, desert, and oceanside settings: Despite the fact that filming has begun, we don’t expect season 2 to premiere until early 2023.
Yes, this season’s filming shouldn’t take as long as the first – the first was hampered by the ongoing pandemic – but there’s still a lot of work to be done, including what will almost certainly be a lengthy post-production phase.
So don’t hold your breath for the second season of Foundation.
