The Limited Gunsmith in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Beta is not a Good Choice.

A gunsmith is a feature in six Call of Duty games and the battle royale Warzone that allows players to adjust and personalize their weapons with remarkable accuracy, including weapon skins, optics, and attachments. Gunsmith, first introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, allows players to stand out in a crowd by improving their specific talents and play style. Given that some weapons in Call of Duty define a player’s experience, it’s strange that Infinity Ward opted to limit Gunsmith during the test.

Popular weapons such as the Fennec and AK-47 are restricted at Level 1 in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta, which means players can’t do much more than utilize their base versions.

Limiting some Gunsmith functionality in the beta makes sense, but it may cost Infinity Ward the opportunity to show off what some of the better weapons in Modern Warfare 2 can do, hooking prospective players on a more powerful weapon they want to earn when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches in October.

Giving players the option to use more powerful versions of select popular weapons during the beta would demonstrate the capabilities of these weapons while also allowing them to develop an affinity for particular weapons and compare builds. Even more perplexing is the fact that players may use attachments on the M4 rifle but not on weapons such as the AK-47 and Fennec.

This approach to the beta may result in an environment with too much “sameness,” making it difficult to evaluate what fans can genuinely anticipate from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 when it launches.

An open Gunsmith during the beta, on the other hand, would undoubtedly harm balance and hinder the use of a diverse range of weapons. Because Infinity Ward almost surely wants to see a variety of weapons get loved during the test, limiting Gunsmith’s capability may give consumers a better notion of how all guns balance.

Because this is only a beta intended to test internet functioning and balance, there will be plenty of time later for things like Call of Duty killstreaks, weapon builds, and other sophisticated features.

Regardless, people want to get their hands on the most comprehensive version of any game they can get their hands on, and fans will not hold back if they want to see improvements made in Call of Duty based on the beta. Balance is vital, but so is word of mouth, and getting enthused Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 gamers talking about the Gunsmith sounds like a possible advantage of the beta that Infinity Ward may be losing out on.
