The Rising Of the Shield Hero is a Japanese dark fantasy isekai light novel series written by Aneko Yusagi. It was originally published as a web novel in the novel site Shōsetsuka ni Narō and is published by Media Factory.
The plot of the series revolves around Naofumi Iwatani, an easy-going Japanese youth who was summoned into a parallel world along with three other young men from parallel universes to become the world’s Cardinal Heroes and fight inter-dimensional hordes of monsters called Waves.
Rishia, though not the main character, remains phenomenal in the storyline. She might not be liked by fan much, but her appearance cannot be ignored. The main reason for not liking her much remains her characteristics. Her background is largely unknown till now in the Shield Hero anime. Rishia is a magic user who can perform minor enhancement spells to buff her allies in battle, such as the First Guard spell to augment an ally’s defenses and First Power to boost their offense. She can also use some token water magic, similar to princess Melty.
Now for the new season Rishia Ivyred of The Rising of the Shield Hero experienced changes from the first season that made her a more interesting character to watch. Although her development is a little quick to be properly analysed but it will be fun to watch the new changes that Rishia has gone through.
Rishia was first seen by viewers in season 1 where she attempted to drown herself because the bow hero kicked her out of his party. Naofumi and his party include her in as one of their own with the motive of helping her to develop to a point where she can be accepted back into the bow hero’s party.
In season 2, Rishia has a long way to go. She’s still rather a timid girl and doesn’t speak out what is on her mind.At few moments, viewers get a few glimpses of her thoughts, but she chooses not to share them with anyone. She also hides in costumes out of shyness, like Grey from Black Clover. Although, a difference can be seen in how she was at the end of season 1. She and Raphtalia are seen training with Eclair Seaetto who happens to be a skillful knight and daughter of a lord.
This provides a hint about her off-screen development since the first season and the also foundations of her changes that may come in the second season. Astonishingly, Rishia now has become a more prominent character with a twist in her personality in the second season, which starts with the focus on her at the beginning of season 2.
She’s has now become more insightful and thoughtful but also less reserved. it is shown that she has more wisdom than previously revealed and has some proficiency with reading ancient texts. It is fun seeing the changes in her and new twist in the second season.
