The 8 Most Famous Characters From Anime Who Possess Wood-based Superpowers. Check Out These Characters

There are, without a doubt, numerous anime characters who possess lightning, ice, or fire powers. However, how about wood?

In the many vast worlds of anime, superpowers come in many different forms. In these shows, the main characters usually have the usual, predictable powers like flight, super-strength, and super-speed. My Hero Academia is a good example.

The ability to control fire, water, electricity, and even wind are examples of elemental powers that are immediately below them in terms of their overuse. However, superpowers related to wood or plant life are one elemental ability that is rarely used. So, let’s look at some of the most well-known examples from recent times.

Black Clover: Magic of the World Tree by William Vangeance

black clover

Let’s start with a character from a more recent Shonen, William Vengeance, also known as the Captain of the Golden Dawn Magic Knights, from Black Clover. William is a somewhat one-of-a-kind illustration because he is technically two characters—William and Patolli—in one who possess two distinct sets of magical abilities.

However, his ability to use World Tree Magic is one of his primary abilities, making him an Arcane Mage. William summons entire World Trees or their branches, which can bind enemies, spans a city, or even drain the magic directly from whoever he wants, making this magic especially unique, even for superpowers based on wood. Unlike other wood-based superpowers, William does not spawn small branches or control the aspect of the wood. Instead, he summons these World Trees.

My Hero Academia: Arbor Quirk of Kamui Wood

It’s easy to forget that Kamui Woods is the first real hero in action and one of the first characters introduced in My Hero Academia. Kamui Woods makes an appearance in the first episode of the anime right after the narrator introduces the concept of heroes and Quirks—the power system in MHA. Kamui uses his Arbor Quirk as soon as he appears to produce wooden branches from his body that encircle and restrain the Gigantic Villain, causing chaos.
Kamui is still one of the biggest rising star Heroes in the show with his wood-based powers, rising to the Number 7 Pro Hero slot in record time. Hilariously,

Naruto Shippuden: Wood Release Jutsu from Yamato

In contrast to the previous two installments, the Naruto franchise now features a significant number of characters whose powers are based on wood, or “Wood Release” in the Naruto universe. Hashirama Senju, the original user and the first Hokage, a number of Sharingan users who were able to imitate it in some way, and even side characters like Moegi Kazamatsuri who are able to use it in some way are among them.

Danzo and Orochimaru were able to infuse Senju’s cells into Yamato through inhumane experiments, despite the fact that this ability was supposed to be exclusive to Senju. Yamato, who temporarily takes over for Kakashi as Team 7’s leader, is the only person who can “naturally” use Wood Release. Having said that, Yamato’s abilities are significantly lower than Hashirama’s, but Yamato is the more beloved character among the two in terms of the fanbase. He uses his Wood Release to stop Naruto from getting too far into the Nine-Tails Chakra when he gets particularly stupid.

One Piece: The Aramaki’s Woods Woods Devil Fruit of the Green Bull

Due to the fact that he only appeared in One Piece at the conclusion of the Wano Arc, this subsequent entry technically has not had enough time to become “iconic.”However, given that Aramaki, more commonly referred to as the Green Bull, is an Admiral of the Marines, it is almost a given that he will grow in popularity over time.

A powerful Logia-type devil fruit that transforms the user into a “Forest Human,” Aramaki now makes use of the Mori Mori No Mi, or Woods Woods Devil Fruit. Aramaki may be the most powerful wood-type power user on this list because he possesses this ability, which enables him to exert absurd control over all plant species at will.

Jujutsu Kaisen:Jujutsu of Hanami’s Cursed Spirit

The answer to the question of whether “Hanami,” the Exorcise-On-Sight Cursed Spirit, was regarded as an iconic Jujutsu Kaisen character prior to the release of the anime is no. However, this character almost immediately “became” iconic when Hanami’s attack on Jujutsu High was fully adapted in the first season of the anime.

And the main reason for this is that his fight with Itadori and Todo is such a spectacle. Hanami uses his Jujutsu skills in a variety of ways, including the Cursed Plants, Wood Orbs, and Wooden Roots, making him probably the most imaginative wood-type power user on this list. He can essentially hover in the air using his Wood Orbs, suck the life out of targets with his Cursed Plants, and spawn and despawn wood made from Cursed Energy at will.

The Blue Exorcist: Capabilities of Shiemi Moriyama’s Tamer

Next up is Blue Exorcist’s Shiemi Moriyama, a truly adorable character. Although this tiny child may appear helpless, she is unquestionably a hero. In addition to being a Tamer with an absurd natural affinity for her specialty, Shiemi also has two contracted Demons.

One of them is a Greenman by the name of Nee, and the other is the Demon King of Earth, one of the strongest Demons ever. Shiemi has a wide range of skills related to growing plant life at an absurd scale, constructing divine barriers, and a lot more thanks to these contracts and her own well-honed abilities.

Seven Deadly Sins: King’s Skills for Disaster

Wood-based powers are rarely associated with King, also known as Harlequin the Fairy King and holder of the Sin of Sloth. Instead, fans of the series think of King’s other abilities, like his ability to transform, fly, or even read the hearts of those around him (especially his beloved Diane).

However, King’s wood powers are the source of his most dangerous power, which is simply referred to as “Disaster.”King has the ability to “modify” the environment to extreme levels with it. He has the ability to instantly cause disease to progress to its final stages, grow or wither plant life around him, and transform a simple cut into a wound that threatens one’s life. Given that he has the power of the Sacred Tree behind him, King effectively controls the entirety of the natural world around him, which obviously includes trees.

Yuyu Hakusho: Plant Powers Demonic to Kurama

Finally, let’s come to an end with Kurama from YuYu Hakusho, a legend from the 90s. Now, Kurama has a wide range of abilities because he is half human and half fox spirit. However, his capacity to accelerate plant growth is the one that he typically makes the most use of and invents with. He mostly uses this to alter Demonic Plants or “turn” ordinary plants into Demonic Plants.

He uses this power in many new ways, the most well-known of which is his Rose Whip. In addition, Kurama has used this ability to kill his opponents by causing plants to sprout from their bodies, erasing people’s memories by using pollen, and even stealing their lives while inflicting hallucinations on them that make them relive their worst nightmares over and over again. Therefore, it is safe to say that he employs a wide range of techniques.
