Ice-T

American rapper, songwriter, actor, and producer Tracy Lauren Marrow, better known by his stage name Ice-T, was born on February 16, 1958. In the 1980s, he started out as an underground rapper. In 1987, he released his first album, Rhyme Pays, and he was signed to Sire Records.

Early life

On February 16, 1958, Tracy Lauren Marrow, the son of Solomon and Alice Marrow, was born in Newark, New Jersey. Solomon was of African descent, and his mother Alice was of Creole descent from Louisiana.

Solomon worked as a mechanic for the Rapistan Conveyor Company’s conveyor belts for decades. His family moved to Summit, New Jersey’s posh suburbs when Marrow was a young child.
