Microsoft and Bethesda may soon announce a Starfield Direct Showcase, according to multiple unconfirmed reports from insiders in the industry.
A Developer Direct livestream for the forthcoming science fiction FPS RPG Starfield may be announced by Microsoft and Bethesda. These rumors have sources inside the gaming industry and are officially unconfirmed. They come from prominent figures in the gaming media.
Even though the developer trademarked the name in 2013 and had been working on the basic concept for some time prior to that, Bethesda made the official announcement about Starfield at E3 2018. Players take on the role of a Constellation-affiliated space explorer in the 2330s setting.
Todd Howard referred to Starfield as “Skyrim in space,” describing it as a first- or third-person shooter with ground and space combat. Over a thousand planets can be explored, ships can be customized, and colonies can be established. Starfield will be released by Bethesda sometime in the first half of this year, but no specific date has been set.
However, if multiple insider sources are to be believed, additional Starfield news may arrive soon. In a tweet on Friday afternoon, Video Games Chronicle Editor-in-Chief Andy Robinson stated, “I hear the announcement for the Starfield showcase is imminent.” This sparked the conversation.
He replied to his tweet a few minutes later with the words “As in, soon.” On their most recent Xbox Two podcast, YouTuber Rand Al Thor 19 and Windows Central Editor Jez Corden subsequently confirmed his statement.

Andy Robinson did not provide any additional details regarding the possible announcement that Microsoft and Bethesda will make in the near future. However, two hours and 24 minutes into their most recent podcast episode, Rand and Corden did say a little more.
When Rand learned about the upcoming Starfield showcase, which he believes Microsoft and Bethesda will announce next week, the two claim that they had a private conversation about it yesterday. Although they kept it quiet until Cordon received confirmation from his sources, he claims to have heard something similar.
In addition, Rand asserts that, prior to The Game Awards, he was aware of rumors suggesting that Bethesda would host a Starfield showcase in March or April 2023. Cordon also said that Rand, Robinson, and he probably don’t get their information from the same set of people, which means that many different people are saying the same thing.
These rumors have a lot more credibility than they would otherwise have because it appears that multiple sources have been telling the same story over and over again.
Still, Rand and Cordon took care not to declare the rumors to be true and to hedge their bets. Given Rand’s claim that news about Starfield has been erratic and that Bethesda’s plans appear to be quite fluid, this is probably wise.
But Rand also says that Starfield Direct will be talked about a lot soon. He thinks that Microsoft and Bethesda might stage it next month and release the game in June.
