Half-Life was and still is, a very popular game. With almost 10 million copies sold worldwide, the game was a big success. Developed and published by Valve, Half-Life was launched back in November 1998.
Now, after almost 19 years, Valve has released a new update for Half-Life. The update surprised many people because everyone thought that Valve has forgotten Half-Life. The update doesn’t bring a lot of new stuff, however, it does fix a few bugs that were reported by the players.
Here’s what the official patch notes say:
- Fixed crash when entering certain malformed strings into the game console. Thanks to Marshal Webb from BackConnect, Inc for reporting this.
- Fixed crash when loading a specially crafted malformed BSP file. Thanks to Grant Hernandez (@Digital_Cold) for reporting this.
- Fixed malformed SAV files allowing arbitrary files to be written into the game folder. Thanks to Vsevolod Saj for reporting this.
- Fixed a crash when quickly changing weapons that are consumable. Thanks to Sam Vanheer for reporting this.
- Fixed crash when setting custom decals.
The update fixes a number of bugs but it doesn’t bring anything new to the game. That may be bad news for some people but, it’s amazing that Valve, after 19 years, developed a patch for this game. Still no Half-Life 3 though.
