Google’s long-awaited Pixel smartphones have just been unveiled by Google verifying some of the rumored specs. As usual, Google has unveiled two variants of the Pixel, the Pixel at 5″ inches, and the Pixel XL at 5.5″ inches which is the larger variant of the two.
Kicking off the event, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google explained how he believes us moving from the Mobile revolution to the AI revolution.
As we expected, it’s running on Google’s new launcher. While Google did let LG get away with Nougat first on the V20, Google’s Pixel brings Google Assistant first to the Pixel and Pixel XL. The Google Pixel & Pixel XL are also going to be the first Daydream VR supported smartphones.
Camera
Pixel has a 12.3MP f/2.0 that works intelligently in different conditions. There’s zero shutter lag and also allows you to bust shoot and get the best shot. HDR also works very well on the Pixel. It will combine a set of your taken image and will merge them to capture rich details . It also records 4K video, but they didn’t mention the frame rate which means that its most probably 4K/30FPS,
Adding to that, we know how much space our videos, movies and content hog up! Similar to the NextBit Robin, Google’s Pixel comes with unlimited online storage to keep your photos safe and freeing up some space on your device.
Internals & Features
As of the performance side of the device, the Pixel and Pixel XL come with quite a good set of specs. And yes, it comes with the usual Quick Charge. They claim 15 minutes of charge could get 7 hours of battery life.
Packing an aluminum unibody with chamfered edges, Qualcomm Snapdragon 821, 4GB of RAM, 32GB or 128GB options, USB Type-C port, and a fingerprint sensor at the rear of the device. Ah ahmm, and a headphone jack. Yes, they blatantly teased that.
As of the screen resolution, the Pixel comes with a Full HD 5″ inch display, meanwhile, the Pixel XL comes with a 1440p 5.5″inch display.
Both smartphones come with the same internals with the exception of their screens. Both of the devices also come with the same set of features. They also come in three colors to complement the rich color fanatics. The Google Pixel will come in three colors, which are hilariously named: Very Silver, Quite Black and Really Blue.
Similar to Amazon, the Pixel also comes with 24/7 customer support providing amazing support for these phones. It’s amazing for Google to implement such a rare feature in their smartphone. And we can see how much Google is trying to pull iOS users.
