In April 2017, Gamasutra talked about Microsoft’s Project Scorpio Xbox Developer Kit highlighting and detailing the features Microsoft’s Project Scorpio Xbox Developer Kit packs.
Two months later, Microsoft released some more details regarding Project Scorpio’s Xbox Developer Kit that to bring up some excellent points. Apart from offering even higher-end hardware for developers, Microsoft included quite a few upgrades to their dev kits. When Gamasutra first revealed the picture of the dev kits. There was some sort of external dongle hanging towards the side of the console called the “Xbox Transfer Device”.
Today, they revealed the purpose of that device. That device will be used to deploy builds of games, that too at 450MB/s from PC to the console thanks to the USB 3.0 standard. Microsoft says that thanks to this fast transfer speed, developers are able to deploy game builds within 4 minutes compared to the 20 minutes on previous dev kits.
