Xiaomi has just revealed their Mi 8. However, the Chinese giant isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
Their next release would succeed their Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus line of devices. These devices, as expected would be called the Redmi 6 and would most probably also bring a Redmi 6 Plus into the mix as well. As teased by the moderators over at the Xiaomi forum, these devices are expected to be revealed in Beijing on June 12th, 2018.
Xiaomi’s Redmi line of devices are very well-known for catering the budget market very well. With the Redmi 6, we should expect Xiaomi to enhance this lineup with a few refreshes here and there as the original Redmi 5 line of devices did feature fairly clean bezel-less designs.
Regarding specs, I won’t expect much of an upgrade. However, I am looking forward to see Qualcomm’s latest and greatest mid-range chip, the Snapdragon 710 SoC in the new Redmi device. But considering Xiaomi’s addiction in choosing SoCs, I would suppose that Xiaomi would opt of pack the Redmi 6 with either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 or a Snapdragon 625 SoC.
Other than that, Xiaomi’s history of releasing well-rounded devices at decent prices should remain true here as well considering that its a Redmi device. What I am personally looking for is a considerable upgrade to the design of the device.
