OnePlus Finally Unveils The OnePlus 6T – It’s Polarizing

OnePlus has just announced the OnePlus 6T. Just like every year since the OnePlus 3T, OnePlus has finally removed the curtains from their OnePlus 6T and it’s incredible as leaks and rumors suggested.

As the leaks and reports suggested, the OnePlus 6T is everything we expected. From the waterdrop notch to the under-display sensor, it’s all here. The OnePlus 6T seems to be an incredible phone all around, in fact, marginally better than the OnePlus 6 announced earlier this year.

On the inside, you’re looking at a spec sheet that clearly resembles that of the OnePlus 6. From the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC to the same set to cameras along with a few tweaks to its design and internals. Sadly, the headphone jack is no longer with OnePlus anymore as OnePlus plans to move forward.

There’s a 20MP and 16MP rear camera set up on the back along with a 6.41-inch display. The camera sensors handling the rear camera processing is the Sony IMX 519 and the IMX 376K with support for both, OIS and EIS. What’s worth mentioning is that the OnePlus 6T now comes with an under-display fingerprint sensor. In addition to that, since they have axed the headphone jack, the OnePlus 6T comes with a 3700mAh battery that’s capable of supporting Dash Charge to charge the device wicked fast.

With the OnePlus 6T, OnePlus is introducing Studio Lighting as well as a new mode called Nightscape. With the help of those two, it’s pretty evident what they’ll do. Similar to Apple’s implementation, studio lighting would try to a studio lighting environment for those intense shots. Meanwhile, NightScape is what OnePlus calls their new mode that’s dedicated to taking impressive photos in the dark. We’d be intrigued to see how well the mode actually works, especially after Google announced the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL with what they call “Night Sight”.

And since the device is launching directly in the US via T-mobile, OnePlus is trying to make the OnePlus 6T support even more bands as they expand globally.

Regarding storage and RAM capacity, the OnePlus 6T comes in two storage and RAM capacities. The OnePlus 6T would come in either 6GB or 8GB RAM and would also come in either 128GB and 256GB internal storage.

The display on the OnePlus 6T as mentioned before comes with an under-display fingerprint sensor. The 6.41-inch AMOLED display on the OnePlus 6T features a 19.5:9 display ratio along with a resolution of 2340 x 1080. OnePlus says that users would be able to unlock your device as fast as 0.34 seconds which is 1/3rd of a second. OnePlus also alleges that over time, the OnePlus 6T would continue to get faster as you continue using the phone.

The colors available for the OnePlus 6T are Mirror Black and Midnight Black. The OnePlus 6T comes in three variants, 6/128GB, 8/128GB and 8/256GB that would retail for $549, $579 and $629, respectively. Regarding availability, the device would be available in the US/Canada on November the 1st, followed by Europe on the 6th.
