Wordle Has a Hard Mode for More Seasoned Word Guesser

Let’s go straight to the point. If you’ve found your way here, you’ve undoubtedly heard about Wordle and the frenzy it’s caused among logophiles everywhere. Many people like the challenge of finding the words, but there will always be some who don’t like it and want it to be more difficult. There’s good news for them. You can choose between easy and hard modes in Wordle.

How To Turn On Wordle Hard Mode?

When you first start playing Wordle, the difficulty level is automatically set to easy. Select the options icon in the upper right corner to activate hard mode. Using the first entry, you may activate the game’s hard mode.

Click or drag the button left or right to activate it. When the light goes green, the mode is activated. Changing between easy and high difficulty levels while playing is a huge plus.

Although there is a “hard” setting, this does not automatically result in more difficult words. When trying to decipher a word, the manner through which letters are used varies. Wordle’s color-coded suggestions should be second nature to you at this point. The color green denotes the proper placement of a letter on a page.

The color yellow denotes the proper letter, although it is located in the incorrect location. Grey is a synonym for bad on every level. Using the simple mode, you may predict any word you see on the screen.

In hard mode, things become a little more challenging. There are no limits on the words you may begin with, but suggestions limit your following guesses. As an example, if your initial guess of ARGUE got yellow squares for R and G, your following guesses must contain those letters. Since the letters R & G are present in the word GRAND, you can’t guess STEAM.

If you’ve already been solving the puzzles this way, you’ve been gaming on hard difficulty without even realizing it. Including the right answers may seem the obvious method, but it also means you will get less input on the remainder letters, making it more difficult to predict the final word.

Wordle is a love-story

Josh Wardle, a Brooklyn-based software programmer, was aware that his partner was a fan of word games, so he designed a game particularly for his wife. In honor of his maiden name, Wordle, he gave it that moniker.

In October, Mr. Wardle decided to share the game with the entire world after playing it with his wife for months and seeing how quickly it became a craze in his family’s WhatsApp group.

On Nov. 1, only 90 people played. More than 300,000 fans played the game on Sunday, less than two months later.

“I think people kind of appreciate that there’s this thing online that’s just fun,” Mr. Wardle said in an interview on Monday. “It’s not trying to do anything shady with your data or your eyeballs. It’s just a game that’s fun.”

There was no engineering team behind Wordle. It was just Palak Shah and her husband killing time amid a pandemic.
