Tim Sweeny, CEO of EPIC Games praised the idea of the new upgraded consoles, Sony’s Neo and Microsoft’s Scorpio in a recent interview with EuroGamer.
The reason behind the positive feedback from Tim Sweeny explained that the upgraded hardware bring reasonable configurations helping to maintain the balance
Tim Sweeny quotes:
“From an industry insider perspective, the console industry will grow and sustain its user base much better if it doesn’t have to reset its user base to zero every seven years. The idea of throwing everything out and doing everything from scratch every seven years is completely crazy. And everything Epic’s done with our new game development approach, involving these online games we’re going to maintain over time, it’s about building games where we don’t have to reset our user base to zero when we want to add new features.”
And this seems to be very true if we look from a developer’s perspective. Tim Sweeny seems to urge the fact that the console industry is growing continuously and waiting for a new console generation to revamp new games just resets the user base. So basically the new upgraded consoles will provide a step to gain a bigger user base while retaining all the same games compatible with the base platforms as well.
