Gears Of War 4 is one of Microsoft’s key titles for the Xbox One family of consoles. Released almost a year ago, the game has undergone some excellent improvements and has catered previous GOW players favorably. With Microsoft being very active in the community and releasing updates for the game every month, this month’s update brings some excellent changes to the game aside from adding just a few maps.
GOW4’s September update shakes up online matchmaking by shattering the region lock. The new matchmaking system also ranks you with fairer players and would find players for you who have similar internet connection options as you do. They call it their “Quality of Service matchmaking system”. This should theoretically improve your online gaming experience and allow you to find more people who play in conditions similar to you.

Some additional goodies that the September update comes with is the inclusion of two additional maps for gamers to enjoy. One of them is the classic Mercy map from Gears of War 3, except that this time its set in Winter. The second map that’s coming this month is called ‘Harbor Haze’ a new map that set in a hazy environment. For now, gamers would be able to experience both of these maps in the Developer playlist. For other players, you should be able to find them in Public matchmaking by the 12th of September.
And lastly, they touched on what’s coming in the future, and for Gears of War fans, its nothing short of exciting. Gears Of War 4 players who own the Xbox One X would be able to take full advantage of the Xbox One X’s power with improved graphics, support for Dolby Atmos and 4K HDR gaming. Indeed, some excellent updates are set here for the future.
