Following the announcement of the Galaxy A7(2018) with its triple rear camera setup, Samsung has finally announced their new Galaxy A9. The Galaxy A9 had a ton of anticipation surrounding it and only now, it seems like it would be justified. We’ve previously discussed with Samsung on why they’ve been making these A7 and A9 such prominent contenders a while ago. With this launch, it seems to be more than eminent where Samsung is going here on forward.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 debuted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia today. Featuring its quadruple camera setup at its rear, Samsung has just “one-upped” Huawei at its own game. Not only do we get to see a quadruple camera setup, but an enticing fleet of colors to go along with it. Each camera on the Samsung Galaxy A9 aims to cater a specific function over the other and in certain situations, they just might be your best friend.
Aside from the main camera, the three other cameras on the Galaxy A9 are a 10MP telephoto shooter with 2x optical zoom, a 120° 8MP ultra-wide and a 5MP sensor dedicating for depth sensing, similar to what LG has recently done with the V40 ThinQ’s triple camera setup.
While the specs aren’t god-worthy by any standards, the Samsung Galaxy A9 does feature a decent punch for a smartphone released in 2018. Alongside that, we get to see the usual Samsung signature additions such as the MicroSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, support for Samsung Pay and a large 3800mAh battery with support for fast charging. What Samsung did not chime on was regarding the video recording capabilities of the device. We’ve reached out to Samsung to get a response from them as soon as possible.
