Xiaomi definitely has enjoyed 2018. The company had announced a slew of new phones covering the low-end, mid-range and high-end market. As Xiaomi announced the Mi MiX 3, Xiaomi’s Senior Vice President, Wang Xiang, announced that they’re expecting to exceed 100M units shipped by the end of October. In a tweet, he said…

Xiaomi Corporation expects its shipment of smartphones to exceed 100M units by the end of October, 2018, successfully reaching the full-year target set last September. Xiaomi will reach the target two months ahead of schedule, and it exceeds the unit shipment of 90M in 2017!

Some of the more notable announcements from Xiaomi throughout 2018 were the Xiaomi Mi8, the Mi Max 3, the Mi A2, the Redmi Note 6, the Pocophone F1 and now the Xiaomi Mi MiX 3. In fact, Xiaomi’s Donovan Sung even recently announced that Xiaomi has shipped over 6 Million units of the Xiaomi Mi8 globally. Since we don’t have specifics, the total gross sales are expected to be around the $3 billion mark and about $2.4 billion if we simply account for the price of the base variant of the device.

Xiaomi definitely surprised us a ton lot this year. Not only did they announce successors to the slew of Xiaomi phones from last year, but they also surprised us when the Poco brand launched months after the launch of the Mi 8. Xiaomi then followed up and announced the Mi 8 Pro and Mi 8 Lite to the fleet of devices carrying the Mi 8’s tagline which eventually added up to a total of five devices under the Mi8’s supervision, not to forget the announcement of the Blackshark 2 from the past week.

Given that Xiaomi exceeded its expected shipments for 2017, Xiaomi definitely feels confident in their 2018 lineup of devices. Last year, Xiaomi managed to ship 90 million units and if they do succeed their expectations, we’re a healthy improvement exceeding 10% given that we’re 10 months into 2018 with two more to go. If we put that into perspective, not only are we seeing Xiaomi exceeding their target with two months left to spare, but we’re expecting to see Xiaomi ship another 20 Million units over the course of the next two months, November and December.
