The Asus ROG Phone 2 was an amazing device, that’s for sure. It had some of the craziest internals, some of the most aggressive, gamer-esque design cues, as well as some of the best prices on the market when it first launched in Q3 2019. As we move deeper into 2020, it seems like the first signs of the ROG Phone 3’s successor are emerging, with the first leak popping of on Geekbench.
First spotted by MySmartPrice, the Asus ROG Phone 3 has also made its round on the Wi-Fi Alliance’s database prompting the existence and upcoming announcement of the ROG Phone 3. Dubbed as the I003DD on Geekbench, the Asus ROG Phone 3, managed to score 902 points in the single core department as well as 3074 in the multi-core department which is right in line with what we could expect from the Snapdragon 865.
Both of these leaks were posted on the Wi-Fi alliance and Geekbench a day between each another which only means that leaks are going to be ramping up from here.
The original Asus ROG Phone 2 shocked everyone with its incredible hardware. The Asus ROG Phone 2 came with a Snapdragon 855 Plus, upto 12GB of RAM, upto 1TB of internal storage, a 6000mAh battery and was the first phone to feature a 120Hz OLED display. On top of all that practicality, the ROG Phone 2 also came with a headphone jack, ticking all the boxes you could ever think of. The device originally launched in China with the Tencent Games badge on its rear and started at an insane price of just $599, with the international variant retailing for $999.
Rumored Internals of the ROG Phone 3
Given the major expectations Asus has managed to set here, we’re interested to see what the Asus ROG Phone 3 could bring to the table, especially now that everyone has caught up with the 120Hz trend this year. Predicting some of the internals isn’t hard, the usual flagships such as the Snapdragon 865 SoC, a 120Hz/144Hz display, the possibilty of an even larger battery, and more.
ROG Phone 3 Pricing & Expected Release Date
Regarding pricing, there’s no doubt Asus is going to be releasing a cheaper variant for the Asian market and a much marked up price for the international market. Given how every OEM in the Android market has marked up their prices with the inclusion of the new Snapdragon 865 SoC, we’re keen to see how that would translate into the price tag of the ROG Phone 3.
Regarding launch dates, there’s no news so far. However, given Asus’s history, we could see the Asus ROG Phone 3 launch in the Chinese market by July, unless they have other plans in store. Incredibly keen times ahead.
