Thru all of the Harry Potter installments, we’ve been familiarized with dozens of characters. Because J.K. Rowling is so decent at world-building in addition to character development, fans feel comparable they have a good empathy even for side characters who are only cited periodically.
This has run to a lot of lists ranking the witches and warlocks that are ostensibly the most commanding in the Potterverse. These lists tend to miss a vital detail, though — not all of the typescripts are human. So how different would those lists look if we encompassed all magical beings and not just witches besides wizards?
For this list, we’re successful by the official Rowling-approved description of ‘being.’ Giving to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (the faux-textbook, not the flick), the Ministry of Magic’s explanation of being is “any creature that has adequate intelligence to appreciate the laws of the magical community and to bear fragment of the responsibility in influential those laws.”
So nothing like tartars or acromantulas
here, since they’re confidential as beasts. We’re also only plus characters that actually appear in the books or pictures (sorry, Merlin), and fortunate power over skill when deciding rankings.

Hermione Granger
Harry Potter would never have survived his many trials without Hermione. While she’s visibly notable for her skill — she wasn’t called the craftiest witch of her age for no good cause
Kingsley Shacklebolt
Before he converted Minister of Magic, Kingsley Shacklebolt was one of the Ministry’s most able Aurors and a key member of the Command of the Phoenix.
Amelia Bones
Casual fans maybe aren’t very familiar with Amelia Bones, subsequently, she only looks as if once on screen in the movies.
Harry Potter
Harry wasn’t the best pupil in school, but he made up for it with impressive magic abilities.
Ginny Weasley
The film editions of the books did Ginny Weasley wrong. The youngest Weasley child and an only descendant wasn’t just Harry Potter’s love notice
Remus Lupin
Lupin’s biggest identifier in the series, of development, was his status as a werewolf. That gave him control in a different way
Golgomath the Giant
The subsequent character on our list isn’t well-known even to serious fans, but that doesn’t make him any less commanding.
Sirius Black
It takes a vast amount of magical ability to develop an Animagus, so it’s impressive for any witch or warlock to achieve.
Filius Flitwick
Most people just know Lecturer Flitwick as the Charms teacher, but his backstory is what types him a really impressive appeal.
